In the Educational Continuum

The goal of the Let’s Go! Brings 5210 to School program is to help schools promote lifelong habits of healthy living, paying special attention to healthy eating and physical activity. It uses the 5-2-1-0 mnemonic to reinforce the importance of four positive health behaviors that are recommended to increase physical activity and healthy eating: eating at least five servings of fruits and vegetables on most days; limiting screen time to two hours or less daily; participating in at least one hour of physical activity every day; and avoiding soda and sugar-sweetened drinks, instead encouraging water and fat-free milk.

Let’s Go! Takes 5-2-1-0 to School will address the policies, environments, and practices that influence these four important health behaviors in the school setting. Participating schools receive a comprehensive resource kit, which provides busy teachers and school health coordinators with lesson plans, handouts, strategies and resources for incorporating 5-2-1-0 messages into the school day. Participating schools will receive workshops from Let’s Go! staff and have the opportunity to apply for mini grants. The Let’s Go! Takes 5-2-1-0 to School Project Team provides the overall coordination, technical assistance and conduct the analysis/report findings of the evaluation data.
