Winterfit
Winterfit originated from Ed Suslovic’s Mayor’s Health Initiative and is now continuing on with Jill Duson. The goal is to get folks from Portland and surrounding communities outside and active during the winter months. In Portland, we have numerous opportunities for physical activity in the winter in our very own city that are free or low cost. Our goal is to share those opportunities and ideas with our community and show how fun it can be to be active all year long. Many of the physical activity opportunities in the winter time are also great chances to spend time with your family, or get to know your neighbor. Activities like sledding, snowman building, walking through the snow, and even shoveling are great ways to spend an afternoon in the winter and can bring a family or neighborhood together!
Winterfit, with the help of a number of partners, pulled together a great series of events, called it WinteRush 2009 and helped offer folks an opportunity to get out and get active during the freezing days of February.
