Community Mini-Grants
The purpose of Let’s Go!’s Community Mini-Grant Program is to advance promising interventions as part of the Let’s Go! community effort to promote physical activity and healthy eating with a direct focus on policy and environmental changes.
FY2011 Communiy Mini-Grant Recipient
Three collaborating Portland child care centers were awarded the Let’s Go! FY11 Community Mini-Grant: Catherine Morrill Day Nursery (lead agency), Youth and Family Outreach and St. Elizabeth’s Child Development Center.
The focus of the project is environmental change in the three child care centers. A commercial food processor, a range hood and kitchen supplies, including a mandolin slicer, will allow for easier preparation of healthy meals and processing of fresh fruits and vegetables. Large motor equipment and a playground re-surfacing will increase physical activity opportunities.
