Some members of the Cape Elizabeth Wellness Team                      Innovative A La Carte Presentation

When Let’s Go! first met with Cape Elizabeth High School back in January 2008, it was clear that they had a vision and that they were going to make it happen.  A diverse and dedicated group of students and staff put their heads together and have been actively enhancing the high school cafeteria and creating healthy nutritional changes.  Through grant funding from Cape Elizabeth’s Education Foundation (CEEF) and Lets Go!, the High School Wellness Committee has been “on the go” creating comprehensive and collaborative change through a project which has fostered partnerships with local farms and businesses. Local produce from Cape farms have been incorporated into the school lunch menu, cafeteria design changes have improved selection, flow, efficiency and climate, and nutritional guest speakers will present to high school health classes and sports teams throughout the year.  It has been an absolute pleasure to watch Cape Elizabeth staff, students, and the greater community come together to improve and enhance healthy eating opportunities at Cape Elizabeth High School.
