Every now and then there’s a school that jumps into Let’s Go! 5-2-1-0 Goes to School with great gusto and Dyer Elementary School in South Portland is a great example of a school raring to go! Dyer held a school-year long enrichment program called “Healthy Me in Healthy Maine,” and held different activities throughout the year to promote healthy decision making and good choices in the areas of nutrition, exercise, personal safety and wellness. Supported by Let’s Go! and the Dyer PTA, “Healthy Me in Healthy Maine” was able to provide healthy snacks, Mileage Club materials, playground equipment, a variety of local dance and physical activity instruction, and supplies for the year end Health Fair. Along with things going on school-wide, teachers are setting great examples by walking with the students at lunch and a 4th grade teacher’s class wrote and performed a 5-2-1-0 musical.
