ML Day students dance their hearts out celebrating a successful food drive.
ML Day School in Arundel is helping those in need and celebrating with physical activity and healthy eating. Each year classrooms from Kindergarten through Grade 5 compete to see who can raise the most food and goods to support community members in need. This year ML Day raised 1398 items of non-perishable goods. To celebrate their good deeds students and staff celebrated with a Dance-a-thon held on February 27th. Overall 263 students participated by getting up and dancing. All 263 students did the Hokey Pokey, Cotton Eyed Joe, Cha Cha Slide, and the Chicken Dance. Healthy foods were served such as apples and oranges along with water for those thirsty, active students. A 5-2-1-0 Goes to School Banner was put up with those messages being shared with students throughout the event. Both the food drive and dance-a-thon were a big success.
Here’s what students and staff had to say about the event:
- “What an accomplishment to collect all that food” ~ Teacher
- “Couldn’t we do this ‘Dance-a-thon’ at least once a week” ~ Student
- “It was worth all the effort” ~ Health Committee Member
- “I love my bracelet that says ‘Dance for Good Health’” ~ Student
