Redy Award Winners

Redy Awards, named after Let’s Go!’s friendly red mascot Redy, were awarded to individuals and organizations demonstrating outstanding commitment, leadership and innovation to Let’s Go! interventions. This award may be presented multiple times a year.

2010 Winners

Recipients at the April 1st Second Annual 5-2-1-0 Goes to School symposium included:

Lunt School - Falmouth, Maine
Lunt School has been promoting 5-2-1-0 for three years. It is fully integrated into the school with strong support from the administration, the school nutrition director, parents and teachers. Students and staff have daily opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating. Yoga is a popular classroom activity and the school garden harvest can be found in the cafeteria.

The New School - Kennebunk, Maine

The New School (Kennebunk) has displayed commitment, leadership and innovation to 5210 by: maintaining a school garden and green house to grow fresh fruits and vegetables for the school to use as part of the school nutrition program, students get one hour of physical activity 5 days a week, they support the 5210 message as part of a 6 week curriculum, and students use the kitchen to make their own healthy food and snacks.

Woodstock Elementary - Bryant Pond, Maine

Woodstock Elementary has shown innovation and leadership for their 5210 program by partnering with local organizations for free skiing lessons in winter months, supporting increased fruits and vegetables and only water and low-fat milk during lunch and only offering healthy snacks for celebrations, finding creative ways to increase physical activity during the school week and implemented a stronger wellness policy.

Saco Middle School - Saco, Maine

Saco Middle School has displayed dedication and innovation to their 5210 program by finding creative ways to increase physical activity during the school day including exercise equipment into the classroom and opening up the gym during home room for physical activity. They have worked hard to eliminate unhealthy food and beverage options at school lunches and incorporate cooking with healthy choices as part of FCF nutrition education.

2009 Winners

AH! Asthma Health Program, The Kids Co-op, for creative and effective ways of promoting our program and its message, above and beyond any expectations. A special thanks to Rhonda Vosmus, the Asthma Nurse Educator at AH!.
